Obama elected President, good job America.

Last night, November the 4th, 2008 Barack Obama was elected President of the United States of America. I am truly proud to have been able to participate in this monumental and ground-breaking election, which resulted in a first African American President. I feel like a sense of hope and ecitement has taken over and united the American people. But what's next?

As much as I would like to be an optimist and a dreamer, I am a realist. And with that, I must point out that he has one of the hardest tasks known to man: fixing and picking up the pieces left by the Bush administration. Change, hope, and belief are nice, but lets be honest: when it comes down to it, doe she really have what it takes, or did Americans just fall for his poise and charm. Well like many of you out there, I'm hoping and wishing that we were right about this guy.

His first step seems to be bringing Americans back to earth and letting them know that change takes time, years even. As we all know, "high hopes become high expectations." CNN.com features an article today regarding this issue (http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/11/05/labott.foreign.policy/index.html). Beyond the American people, Obama gets to enjoy expectations from the international community, as they, too, see hope in change in the face of Barack Obama. "Obama's election offers a monumental transformation of America's face to the world. Many see him as the epitome of the American dream." As a new dawn of American leadership takes over, countries from around the world gain hope at the fact that he isn't, well, President Bush. As Obama inherits the "this web of domestic and international problems" it will be interesting to see what he makes of them. But for now I see no better person to take on this tragedy.
