Delisting North Korea from our terrorist states list seems like an absolutely insane idea to me, but apparently Bush and his team of "geniuses" do not agree. FOXNews.com (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,435463,00.html) announced today that "State Department spokesman Sean McCormack is expected to speak on the reported deal, which would de-list North Korea in exchange for a verification regime monitoring the shutdown of its nuclear program..."
I am truly baffled by this offer as it arrives on the same day North Korea is powering up its nuclear weapons and testing missiles. Yes, Condoleezza Rice, scratching North Korea's name from our infamous list of terrorist countries, is what's going to ultimately deter them from testing/using nuclear weapons. Years of experimentation and billions of dollars all down the drain just so that we delist them...ok...
When will this administration understand that even diplomacy has its limits? When dealing with terrorist regimes, groups, or individuals- diplomacy is not the answer, it simply does not speak to them. The power that they are gaining by developing nuclear weapons is far more convincing and satisfying than good relations with the United States. Let's be honest, our economy is dying right before our eyes, no one likes us, and we're losing international influence by the day. I wouldn't want to be our friend either!
